We are asking for members to donate items for Holidays For Heroes.  These are items that can be shipped to deployed service men and women.  Our youth group will be putting the boxes together as a service project during our next Youth Devotional on November 20th at 4:30pm.  Please bring these items soon and leave in the Fellowship Hall.

Pre-packed items are better and easier for shipping.  Anyone who wants to bake, make sure to put in containers for easier shipping.

Any Christmas type items (candy canes, Santa candies, etc.  They have a lot at Dollar Tree and in the dollar isles at places like Wal-Mart and Target).

Our Senior Soldiers (6th Grade & up Youth) 07/10/2011

Our youth did such a wonderful job today cleaning several areas inside and outside of our building and grounds.  We cleaned Rose Park across the street from the building, as well as the soccer field just down the road.  They vacuumed the auditorium, fellowship hall, foyer, educational halls, classrooms, offices, resource room.  They took out all the trash.  They also set up a work space for sorting and folding clothes to prepare for our Clothes GiveAway in August.  A "Job Well Done" to Jacob Peters, Rahshann Davis, Marian Davis, Michael King, Shelby King, Kris Rodgers, Sammy Kovalenko, Paulina Kovalenko, Michael Garner, and Dennis Garner.  We certainly appreciate their service in our Lord's Kingdom.  This was one of the service projects

July holds out to be a busy month for OceanSide. There is much going on for our youth as well as for the whole congregation.  Please take a moment and look at the 'News & Upcoming Events' page for the list of activities.  Please pray for these activities as well as participate yourself.  There's nothing like getting involved and having ownership in the great works of our Lord.  To Him Be The Glory.

      Leaving for Bible Camp 06/16/2011

This Sunday we leave for Georgia Bible Camp.  What an exciting time of renewing friendships from years past and making new friendships to last a lifetime!  The spiritual growth that takes place for everyone (youth and adults) is amazing and certainly fulfilling 1 Peter 2:2.  Keep us in your prayers for safety and a great spiritual week.

What a great day it turned out to be!  We had a smaller crowd than we had hoped.  But, it was a great Fellowship Meal.  Of course, the food was wonderful.  We have great cooks at OceanSide, but also there were yellow ribbons handed out by our young ladies.  Several of our young men read poems and two of them lead prayers for active duty military and also those who have served previously.  The families were held in high honor, as well.  These are the ones who sacrifice so much so that we can enjoy the freedoms that we do so that we might preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

"Greater love hath no man than this,
that a man lay down his life for his friends" (John 15:13 KJV)

What a great day we had at the Lock-In!  We had eighteen for the devotional and lunch plus four adults.  Thank you to the widows who helped provide hotdogs and numerous others who provided drinks, snacks, etc.

We had twelve who stayed after the devotional and lunch.  They studied for Bible Bowl, played Wii games (MarioKart & Mario Smash Bros), several service projects were accomplished (tract posters, Military Appreciation Day planning, set up fellowship hall to be used as a Voting Precinct in tomorrow's elections), powerpoint games, as well as free time & snacks throughout the afternoon.

      Youth Devotional & Daytime Lock-In 05/14/2011

I'm so looking forward to worship services tomorrow and immediately following our Youth Devo & Lunch.  Our widows are providing hot-dogs and others have provided snack, drinks, etc.  This is a new format for our Devos at OceanSide, but will hopefully provide the right atmosphere for growth and encouragement for our Young People.

We have a Young Soldiers group & Senior Solders group of Youth.  YS is our 5th Grade and below.  We want to include them during our Devotional period and lunch.  After lunch, our Senior Solders (6th Grade and Up) will go to Bible Bowl class.  After a class period, we will have some free time and games and snacks.  We will later work on a couple different service projects which are up-coming.  We will then have a Bible Bowl drill and then free-time & games until we meet for worship at 6:30.

More to come on Service projects...
